Gratitude and Grounding

Fall is here. Cool crispness is in the air the leaves are beginning to change (ok, I can imagine can't I?) and a Fall favorite of mine, yummy, delicious squash! I love the season of Fall and am ready to welcome the month after spending all of October receiving cleansing, healing and nourishing Panchkarma treatments in India.  It was so wonderful to be there but it is also good to be back home.

This is the month that we spend a good amount of time thinking about gratitude and giving thanks. This is an attitude that we strive to maintain throughout the year but tend to lose when we get bumped by life, become stressed or overly self-involved.

November is also the month at that we begin gearing up for the holidays. This for you may be a time of traveling to visit family and friends or perhaps having family and friends come to stay with you. Holiday parties and beginning to happen and there is just generally a lot going on. Things can get busy, stressful and we can lose our grounding.

Not to mention we are now in full swing Vata season, which means the elements of ether and air are driving the train. The ether or space element when in excess can leave us feeling lonely, isolated and generally spacey and ungrounded while the air element is all about movement and motion. Too much of the air element and we will run ourselves ragged finding it difficult to calm and center our mind.
When, however, these elements are balanced within both our mind and body we will be full of enthusiasm, creativity, and flow.

My wish for you this November is that you find the precious balance of grounding and gratitude through nourishing daily practices, food, friends, family, breath, and meditation.
