Grace, Devotion & 87.5%

Blessings, salutations and welcome my friends to 2018. I am so excited to see what this brings for all of us as we journey together. For the last several years I have chosen two words to be the focus of my intention and attention. In 2016 I chose the words “grace” and “devotion”. When 2017 arrived I felt I needed more time as they were not fully embodied as I wished.  I am again being nudged to stay with these intentions as we move into 2018.

Working with these words has led me to create lifestyle adjustments and rituals that allow me to embody their vibration more deeply.  I have learned a lot about myself as well as what grace and devotion look like. I have also learned where I have failed miserably on both fronts. This gives me the opportunity to apply grace to myself in the form of forgiveness. Devotion, I am finding as surrender and deep love, lessening the need for control while growing my faith.  Again, at times, um, a lot of times, I fail miserably but then I give myself grace and show myself love.

I have also found that both of these attributes need to have support. They are not just a bumper sticker or instagram post but need to have real actions and infrastructure for them to fully develop. This is where the 87.5% comes in. Over the past several years I have been diving deeper into creating a well-rounded yoga practice. When we hear the word yoga we think of asana which are the  poses and postures. That is only 1 limb of 8 which is just 12.5%. That leaves the other 7 limbs (87.5%) which are our infrastructure and foundation. The 8 limbs of Patanjali give us a roadmap to help us realize our true nature. This shows up as truth in our existence, consciousness and bliss. By implementing all 8 limbs, I am creating daily rituals to grow both my grace and devotion.
